WORKS > from Charulata

'from Charulata' is sourced from Bengali filmmaker Satyajit Ray’s 1964 black and white film ‘Charulata’. The film is based on Rabindranath Tagore’s story, ‘Nastanirh’ (“The Broken Nest”). The 'from Charulata' series consists of 14 painted drawings on embossed plastic paper. Each composition was made in a single sitting, beginning with a film still of Ray’s 'Charulata' that was then cropped, magnified and reimagined in color and texture.
